With a conventional 2D image, weld misalignment and bent terminals are easily missed because greyscale values alone are not enough for reliable inspection. 3D imaging adds stability to these inspections with height data, so it is possible to inspect for misalignment, wire disassembly, and welding defects without concern of part colour variation.
